Saffron Rice
Saffron is an aromatic spice that comes from the flower known as the "saffron crocus". It originated in the East Mediterranean and is used for flavoring large amounts of food. One of them is saffron rice, which is one of my favorite rice dishes. It is a perfect side for Mediterranean and Indian dishes, as saffron is popular is these regions. Pair this with our Ali Nazik and Meskouta, and you have the perfect dinner! I hope you enjoy!
Serves 3-4
Ingredients:
I cup rice
2 cups water
2 tbsp mild, warm
Pinch of saffron
Salt to taste
Procedure:
Rinse the rice until the water runs clear. In a small bowl soak the saffron in the warm milk for 10 mins. In a pot boil the water and add the rice. Then, add the saffron and milk to the pot. Cook the rice on a medium flame for 10-15 mins with the pot covered. Keep stirring the rice occasionally. Check to see every few minutes to make sure the water is evaporated and whether the rice is cooked. Add salt to taste. You can make this in a rice cooker too!
