Ali Nazik

This super delicious chicken recipe is dedicated to my uncle, Harish. The first time I tried this dish, it was just delicious and I had to find out the secret ingredient. My uncle was more than happy to share the secret ingredient with me along with the recipe! Pomegranate molasses is the secret ingredient here and this my favorite chicken dish. Ali Nazik originates from Turkey. Hope you like this dish as much as I do!

Serves 6-8

Ingredients:

1.5 pounds chicken thighs (2 inch cubes)
1 tsp paprika
1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp crushed coriander
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp pomegranate molasses
1 tbsp lemon juice
6-10 bamboo kebab skewers
1/2 cup chopped parsley to garnish
4 sliced tomatoes

Procedure:
Approximately 2 chicken thighs will make a large bamboo skewer kebab. Mix all the ingredients: spices, oil, and pomegranate molasses. It is ideal to let the chicken marinate for a few hours, ideally overnight. After it is marinated, place the chicken pieces on bamboo skewers. Lightly oil a hot grill. Place the chicken skewers on the grill for 12-14 minutes, turning the skewers so they do not get burned and the chicken juice runs clear. Halved or quartered tomatoes can be grilled for 7-8 minutes until the skin of the tomatoes looks wrinkled and burnt. Peel the skin before eating. Serve the chicken over the grilled tomatoes. Drizzle some olive oil and extra 1 tsp lemon juice if desired. Enjoy!
