RDC's COVID-19 Donation Guidlines:

Hello everyone! I hope this message finds all of you safe and healthy. Currently, the Covid-19 pandemic has been stressful for all of us, but especially stressful to those who are experiencing homelessness. This is why we, RDC, want to help the shelters during this time, and we need your help. Due to this difficult time, we must  take caution while delivering food, and follow certain guidelines to ensure safety for all. Please read through the public health guidelines we plan to follow to safely cook and deliver food while we cook remotely:

  • We have created a whatsapp group chat for RDC to collaborate with volunteers. Please send us an email at rainydaychefs@gmail.com if you are interested in participating.

  • According to the public health guidelines, we will all cook remotely in our own homes, and dropping off food will be coordinated. This way, we avoid putting anyone’s health at risk.

  • While cooking, please wear masks and gloves in order to protect the people that will be consuming this food. For more details, please go here.

  • If you sign up for a particular date to cook, you are obligated to follow through as the shelter will be deprived of food otherwise. If there is an emergency and you are unable to meet your commitment, please send us a monetary compensation ($50) so we can buy readymade food for the shelter.

  • If you or anyone in your household  are feeling unwell, please do not sign up to cook.

  • The Sophia Way shelter has specific guidelines as well. Please check them out.

  • If you don't get a chance to volunteer a given month, there will always be other opportunities during upcoming months

  • We will try our best to coordinate dropping food off to the shelters, or you will be notified beforehand to drop the food off (especially for those of you who don't live in our neighborhood)

  • Thank you for supporting our community and helping us through this endeavor!
