This spooky season, our community participated our monthly cookout for the Sophia Way. We made Mozzarella Salad for appetizer, Baked Ziti for our entree, and Brownies about desert. Brownies were invented in the 1893 Chicago World fair, when a hotel manager asked her chef to prepare a sweet that could be eaten as the guests explored the city. The original recipe had walnuts and apricot glaze, and is still served in the same hotel to this day. Although it was invented in 1893, it was first named in the early 1900s in a cookbook. I hope you learned something from this fun fact, and I'll see you all next month.
