On a cloudy March afternoon, us Rainy Day Chefs cooked and gathered food for The Sophia Way shelter to create a culinary experience that would warm both hearts and bellies. Our goal, as usual was to serve a comforting meal to those in need. So as usual, we put on our aprons, and transformed the day. Our cookout began with a fresh Mozzarella Salad, with its plump cherry tomatoes, fresh lettuce leaves and creamy mozzarella balls, all drizzled with extra-olive oil and a sprinkle of salt. Next up was the heartwarming Baked Ziti. Layers of ziti pasta, marinara sauce, and gooey melted cheese came together like pieces of a puzzle. We seasoned it with fragrant oregano and a whole lot of love. Finally for dessert, a classic Brownie. Layers of chocolate chips, sweet gooeyness, and cocoa powder formed the perfect sweet treat to finish the meal. These three dishes took a boring old day in March, and turned it into a day worth remembering, as we definitely turned someone’s day around. These cookouts are more than just meals, but a way of showing kindness has no boundaries. Thank you all for participating in this month's cookout, and we will see you next month. - Arnav
